Custom Genotyping: Identity Testing

Zoogen offers custom DNA genotyping for several mammalian species, including dogs, cats, and horses with a rapid turnaround of results. Though not directly affiliated with any registry, Zoogen offers high quality DNA genotyping with industry proven markers including the standard panel of microsatellite markers used for the American Kennel Club DNA Certification program. Even more complex cases of parentage ascertainment such as discriminating between two closely related possible sires (such as father and son) can be resolved with our expanded marker panels. Microsatellite based genotyping (for identity/parentage verification) is also available for racing pigeons.

The two primary reasons for genotyping are parentage determination or verification (especially in cases where the sire is not known and there are multiple males with access) or identity determination (such as a dispute over a lost or stolen animal). Less commonly, it is necessary to verify that a test sample such as a urine taken for drug testing in the racing industry, does in fact match the animal in question.
